Warner Bros. Games has launched Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, a real-time, collection role-playing game (cRPG) on Android and iOS. The game is developed by NetherRealm Studios and it is available to download for free on App Store and Google Play globally.

Mortal Kombat: Onslaught story and gameplay

Mortal Kombat: Onslaught is about Shinnok’s plan to bring destruction. As the fallen Elder God of Death tries to regain his power by gathering relics from across the realms, players must aid Raiden in building a team of fighters and defeat this evil plan.

Players can choose from a wide range of characters, including the legendary Sub-Zero, Liu Kang, Scorpion, Kitana, Cyrax and Smoke. These characters are categorised into different speciality types, including Assassins, Warriors, Snipers, and Defenders, and each character has Special Moves, Affinities and Passive Skills. Players have to collect these characters in order to choose them.

As players advance in the game, they will encounter “progressively difficult battles,” and to keep winning, they have to increase the character’s powers by “evolving kombat skills including Kombos and Special Abilities, leveling gear, and equipping Relics.” They will also be able to enhance the skills of their characters in Boss Tower and Chasm Modes. Players can even enter the Arena to “challenge other players across Earthrealm in real-time matches, earn rewards and climb the leaderboards in Player-versus-player (PvP) seasons.”

High-quality graphics and cinematic cutscenes

According to the developer, the game has high-quality graphics, cinematic cutscenes, and “bone-krushing kombat.” Ed Boon, Chief Creative Officer at NetherRealm Studios and Co-Creator of Mortal Kombat says “In Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, players will be able to unleash total mayhem in strategic, fast-paced battles with up to ten characters at once. Mortal Kombat: Onslaught introduces a new level of strategic gameplay and we’re excited to see how players build their teams to overcome various opponents and challenges.”
