Viking expands its fleet, adding 23 new ships by 2030

Viking Cruises has announced the arrival of 23 new ships to join its existing fleet of 92. This will take the total number of river, ocean and expedition ships in its fleet to 115 by 2030.

The Scandinavian cruise company plans to introduce 13 new river ships by the end of 2026, which will include two new ships in Egypt. A second ship will be added to the Mekong, while 10 new ocean ships will be added by 2030.

The new ships will join its existing fleet of Egypt, Mekong and Mississippi River ships, European longships, ocean ships and two new purpose-built expedition ships.

The expansion of the fleet will mean increased diversity in itineraries for guests and greater flexibility in the number of scheduled departure dates for existing itineraries.

New itinerary highlights will include Grand South Pacific & Australia, Jewels of Australia & Asia, Asia to Europe Grand Passage, India and Europe Grand Passage and Australia, Asia & the Mediterranean.

The company says its new online booking platform simplifies itinerary sourcing for travel agents, with some reporting reduced wait times and increased itinerary visibility.
