The annual Christmas light switch-on in a town centre will happen later today (Sunday, November 26).

The annual Christmas light switch-on in a town centre will happen later today (Sunday, November 26).

The Newark Market Place 2023 will feature a myriad of activities all day finishing in a fireworks display.

The event will kick-off at 11am when the market and fun fair officially opens.

The music stage will see choirs singing from 11am until 11.40am this morning.

The Newark Town Band will then play from 11.45am until 12.10pm before Just Sing will grace the stage from 12.15pm until 12.40pm.

Newark Violin School will perform from 12.50pm until 1.15pm before Jack Brett takes over from 1.25pm until 1.55pm.

The Business will get the crowds bopping from 2.10pm until 2.45pm.

Alex Jones will take to the stage from 2.55pm until 3.15pm.

Sammy and the Dolpins will perform from 3.30pm until 4pm.

Band from County Hell will be the last performers on before the fireworks as they will perform from 4.15pm until 4.45pm.

The lights count down and switch on will then take place joined by the mayor and Newark Panto before the fireworks light up the sky at 4.55pm.

Times may change slightly throughout the day if needed.

There will be a concert at the St Mary Magdalene Church after the fireworks.

During the day there will also be activities happening in the Buttermarket from midday until 4pm including Victorian carol singers.
