Shortened itinerary for Carnival cruise ship following drydock and weather related issues

Carnival Vista has just emerged from a month-long dry dock upgrade program but has been forced to shorten its first cruise from Port Canaveral.

Carnival said it experienced a delay leaving the dry dock in Cadiz, Spain. Unable to make up the time during the transatlantic journey to Florida, the first cruise back has been shortened by a day. It will now last for two days, visiting Nassau, Bahamas.

Compensation offered to guests

The cruise line has informed booked guests of the last-minute change and will compensate them. To reflect the shortened voyage, guests will receive a one-day pro-rated refund and $50 per person onboard credit (up to $100 per stateroom) as a goodwill gesture.

Pre-purchased Wi-Fi and beverage packages will also be partly refunded. Guests can also cancel for a full refund or future cruise credit.

“We know you were looking to the full itinerary and sincerely apologize for this unexpected change of plans,” the line said. Following the shortened two-day cruise, which departs on February 16, Carnival Vista will sail six- and eight-day Caribbean itineraries. 

New Hull Livery, Upgraded Amenities

The ship arrives in Florida sporting a new signature red, white, and blue hull livery and many new and updated amenities. An expanded casino and a new Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge honor veterans and active-duty service members.

Carnival Vista introduces new retail options, the Effy Jewelry and Cherry on Top candy stores. The Lido Marketplace has been upgraded, and the Club O2 for teens has been redesigned and relocated.

The 4,000-guest Carnival Vista returned to Florida for a year-round deployment alongside Carnival Freedom, Carnival Liberty, and Mardi Gras. Its Caribbean itineraries will visit Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Turks & Caicos, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten.
