As a seasoned biker, I recently completed an 8-night, 1800 km tour that not only challenged my riding skills but also allowed me to delve deep into the heart of India. 

I rode with other experienced riders and together, we explored a blend of both culture and scenery. From the caves Bhimbetka to the architecturally stunning Khajuraho monuments, from the lush Satpura forests to the captivating Raneh waterfalls, it was a road trip into the heart of India. 

This bike tour was more than just a ride for me. It was an enlightening journey through Madhya Pradesh's rich tapestry of history and nature.

Day 0 - Touchdown Bhopal

Day 1 - Bhopal to Pachmarhi via Bhojpur

  • Early start to head to Pachmarhi, the only hill station in Madhya Pradesh

Our first leg was a ride from Bhopal to Pachmarhi via Bhojpur. The Bhimbetka Caves, with their prehistoric rock paintings, offered a profound start. The journey towards Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh's serene hill station, was a gradual ascent into natural splendor, marking a stark contrast from the urban onset.

Day 2 - Pachmarhi to Jabalpur via Bhedaghat

The route through the Satpura forest to Jabalpur was a blend of thrill and awe. I saw diverse wildlife and lush greenery. Bhedaghat’s marble rocks and Dhuandar Falls were simply stunning - nature in its purest form.

Day 3 - Jabalpur to Amarkantak via Shahpura

In Jabalpur, I soaked in the local culture and landscapes. The ride to Amarkantak, a significant pilgrim town, offered a mix of serenity and spirituality, something that stayed with me long after I left.

Day 4 - Amankantak to Khajuraho via Raneh Waterfalls

En route to Khajuraho, the Raneh Falls on the Ken River was a refreshing sight. But the real highlight was the Khajuraho Group of Monuments. The intricate carvings and architecture of these ancient temples were absolutely fascinating.

Spending a whole day in Khajuraho let me dive deep into its history. The temples, especially the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple, were architectural wonders that told stories of a bygone era.

Day 6 - Khajuraho to Orchha via Rai Praveen Mahal - Kalprvrish – Raja Mahal - Jahangir Mahal

The journey to Orchha felt like traveling back in time. The old palaces and mahals, each with its own history, were mesmerizing. The grandeur of structures like Rai Praveen Mahal was awe-inspiring.

Day 7 - Orchha to Bhopal via Sanchi Stupa

Heading back to Bhopal, I stopped at Sanchi Stupa. This ancient Buddhist structure was a peaceful contrast to the adrenaline of the bike ride. It was a moment of quiet reflection amid a journey full of excitement.

General Rules

Compliance with Rules and Regulations

  • Follow all rules and regulations set by the ride and the Pilot Rider for the safety of yourself and fellow riders.

Riding Formation

Traffic Laws

  • Strictly follow all traffic laws; any violation will not be tolerated.
  • Riders caught breaking traffic laws are responsible for handling the situation themselves.

No Stunts

  • Performing bike stunts is strictly prohibited during group rides.

Communication

  • Maintain constant communication with the ride coordinator or fellow riders in case of riding problems or health issues.

Documents

  • Keep necessary documents (RC card, Insurance Certificate, Driving License, Vaccination certificates, or RT PCR tests) accessible for quick inspections by authorities.

Maintenance

  • Ensure timely bike servicing and conduct a short ride to guarantee your bike's fitness, avoiding interruptions during travel.

No Distractions

  • Avoid distractions like operating mobile phones, cameras, or music while riding. Safely stop before using distracting gadgets.

First Aid Kit

  • Carry a personal first aid kit for your safety, considering the Pilot Rider may be unaware of your medical conditions.

Necessities

  • Always carry cash for roadside expenses, as UPi payments and card payments may not work everywhere.

Weather Preparedness

  • Be prepared for all weather conditions, including rain. Carry rain gear, a luggage cover, or a winter coat accordingly.

Choosing the Perfect Bike - My Experience

While preparing on the Madhya Pradesh bike tour, I knew I needed a motorcycle that could handle long distances comfortably and tackle varied terrains with ease. 

I went for the Dominar 400, and it turned out to be an excellent decision.

The Dominar's 373cc engine was a powerhouse, delivering a smooth and steady ride whether I was cruising on highways or navigating rough rural paths. 

Its reliability was a constant reassurance. The bike's ergonomics were another highlight. The upright riding position and comfortable seating made the long hours on the road less taxing and more enjoyable.

Throughout my journey, the Dominar faced everything from steep hill climbs to narrow village tracks. Its responsive handling made these challenges not just manageable but enjoyable.
