Avalon Waterways will be offering new one-, two- and three-week itineraries through Bordeaux in France, with new cruises on the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, which can be paired with combination cruises along the Seine, Rhine, Saône and Rhône rivers.

The new itineraries increase Avalon’s France offerings by 30 percent, giving travelers a greater opportunity to discover the joys of visiting France. Travel advisors can access information about the new itinerary and offerings on Avalon's dedicated travel advisor portal.

Bonjour Bordeaux: Châteaux, Wineries & Charming Villages is an 8-day round-trip itinerary from Bordeaux, with visits to Cadillac-sur-Garonne, Cussac Fort Médoc, Blaye, Bourg and Libourne. Along the way, travelers can visit the birthplace of political philosopher Montesquieu, enjoy local wine tastings, visit the UNESCO-designated Citadel of Blye, take a guided tour of the medieval village of Saint-Émilion, take a local pastry baking class, visit the seaside resort of Arcachon, visit a local oyster farm and much more.

The 8-day itinerary can be combined for two- or three-week cruising with other France itineraries, including the 15-day French Masterpiece: Paris, Normandy & Bordeaux itinerary; and the 22-day France, Uncorked: The Rhône, the Seine & Bordeaux itinerary.

“Wine-lovers aren’t the only cruisers raising a glass to Avalon’s new Bordeaux itineraries,” said Pam Hoffee, president of Avalon Waterways. “Along the shores of the Garonne and Dordogne Rivers, we’re elevating immersive experiences for guests, offering them deeper discoveries of the richest traditions in Southwest France.”

“From unparalleled panoramic cruising aboard the Avalon Artistry II to on-shore Châteaux visits, Sauternes tastings and crème puff baking classes mixed with e-biking through vineyards and free time in postcard-perfect places like Saint-Émilion, Bourg and Arcachon, for Avalon guests in Bordeaux, the world is their oyster to enjoy as they please,” continued Hoffee.
